Worry Dolls

In this Video we will make a Guatemalan Worry Doll using a yarn wrapping technique. Students can keep their dolls in a pocket and tell their dolls all about anything that is on their mind to help cope with stress and isolation.

Step 1

Wind some yarn around your hand then pull the yarn away and cut through one section so you have a group of longer strands.

Step 2

Fold a pipe cleaner in half and put the yarn strands in the bent of the pipe cleaner and twist to secure the yarn.

Step 3

Feed the ends of the pipe cleaner through a face bead and then shape the pipe cleaner so you have arms, a torso and legs.

Step 4

Cut a lengths of yarn and wrap your Worry Doll to create clothes. Knot the ends of the yarn and trim with scissors to finish.
