Spain

Term: 1 Year: 2013

On my return from an art/culture tour of Spain in 2012, children from Grades 5 & 6 were exposed to Spanish artists e.g. Gaudi and distinctive architectural features of Islamic art evident throughout Southern Spain.

Discussion centred around geometrical shapes, decorative patterns and repetition of line, colour and textures.

Distinctive features of Islamic architecture included domed rooves, arched windows and decorative geometrical entrances.

Children worked with a variety of art media

·       Zart Colour Blocks

·       Islamic patterned papers

·       Decorative scrapbooking papers

·       Glitter

·       Black Paper

All art work was displayed to make a colourful Spanish flavour mural of Islamic mosque architecture.
