Soup Cans

Term: 2 Year: 2017

Year 9 students from Box Hill High School created a soup can inspired by Andy Warhol. Students of year 9 3D- Design class were asked to research and identify various techniques of both artists Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.

Discussions, compare and contrast between the artists was explored as was the aims of the Pop Art period.
Students were then asked to look at popular items of today and record the differences using their visual diaries.

We focused on the iconic Tomato Soup can and presented a new design brief asking students to combine a sculptural aspect to the final construction.
Students were to record their development, their exploration, choice of mix media and selection colour.

Scale was emphasised and a focus towards their final engineered construction.
