Personality Pencil Case

In this video we customise a calico pencil case using textile markers and colourful yarn to represent our personality.

Step 1

Create a design which matches your personality or a word you would use to describe yourself. think of colours and patterns which you relate to this word.

Step 2

Use Textiles markers to colour in a pattern on your case. Put a scrap piece of thick paper inside your case to absorb any textile marker that may bleed through. Once you have finished your pattern leave it to set for 24hrs or you can use an iron to set it immediately.

Step 3

Thread a wool sewing needle with some fun multicoloured yarn and knot the end. Push your threaded needle through the fabric from the inside to the patterned side so you don’t see the knot.

Step 4

Using a back stitch begin to stitch along your pencil line. When you finish one length of yarn push your threaded needle through to the inside of the case and run the yarn through the back of some of the stitches. You can now knot the yarn off and trim the end.

Step 5

Once you have finished stitching your word you can give your pencil case a light iron to smooth out the stitched areas.

Step 6

You can now take your circle shapes off the paper and leave your work to dry.
