Monet Gardens

Term: 1 Year: 2014

Inspired by the Monet exhibition the Year 5 students of Firbank explored Impressionism.

Their main artwork, a mixed media lily pond was referring to Monet's beautiful garden in Giverny.

They first glued blue, green and yellow tissue paper strips vertically on the landscape size background to represent the tree reflections.

They then painted white ellipses, diminishing in size, for the lily pads. The lily pads were decorated with yellow, pink and orange tissue paper bits.

Last step involved using oil pastel on the background to create water ripples.

The Japanese bridges were constructed from various wooden sticks and cardboard.
