Mola is the Kuna Indian word for reverse-appliqué needlework technique created by the Kuna Indians from an
island near Panama. Here the technique has been adapted for paper, the topic being a cityscape.
Students selected their style of architecture and their range of colours.
They made a stencil for their largest group of buildings from which they cut their first colour.
This stencil was then reduced by about 2 mm for subsequent colours. It is also very effective for the topics of birds
and animals.
