Maltese Luzzu in Complementary Colours

Term: 2 Year: 2020

Students looked at and discussed the lines, shapes and colours used in a traditional Maltese fishing boat or ‘luzzu’ as it is called

Through a directed drawing, students drew their own version of the luzzu on A3 paper. During the term, students were consolidating their colour theory with a particular focus on complementary colours. One of their success criteria for this project was to use at least 2 complementary colours next to each other. Students also investigated different ways of using various painting techniques, such as, painting within the lines and wet-on-wet watercolour technique.
