Colour Pastel Lions

Term: 4 Year: 2013

The Level 3 students studied closely and discussed the features of a calendar photo of a lion.

We took particular notice of the tones, shades, colours and lines of the lion. The children started drawing the lion, beginning with the nose and eyes. They then worked it out from there, adding the mane and ears.

The children had the option of just featuring the lions head or they could add the body as well. We focused on blending the colours of pastels to create the “fur” effect. The children then used dry paints to add a contrasting background which enhanced the lion even further.
