Ken Done Inspired Trees

Materials

Explore Ken Done’s artworks and discuss his use of colour, line, shape, bold designs and iconic Australian images (sun, frangipani, Opera House, etc.)

Step 1. Use Colour Slicks to draw and colour a cardboard cone in the style of your favourite Ken Done painting.

Step 2. Coil a Chenille Stem around the cone so that it extends along and around the cone. The cone can also be embellished with pieces of Chenille Stems, which can be glued on with Supertac.

Step 3. Choose one or multiple design elements or icons which will tie into your cone design. Use Slicks to draw that design onto a piece of white cardboard (approx. 6 – 7cm). Cut out the shape and use Supertac to glue it onto the Chenille Stem or cone.

OPTIONS. Oil Pastels can be substituted for Colour Slicks. Use card offcuts instead of Cardboard Squares.
