This masterclass focused on the expressive use of colour and line.

Students studied the art of German Expressionists Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and Edvard Munch and appropriated style and imagery to create an artwork. Monotype printing techniques were applied with oil paint on polymer paper, and materials such as glasso-chrome pencils, graphite sticks, charcoal and pastel were incorporated to create tonal qualities and expressive marks. Students reflected on the emotional and expressive aesthetic of the artwork through their use of colour, line and through the manipulation and use of materials.
