Helmar Silicone Oil 100mL is made with 100% Silicon Oil and is perfect for creating cell effects on acrylic, resin and fluid pouring art. Ideal for any type of pour, whether it is a dirty or clean, tip cup or swipe. Drip directly on the paint surface or combine with paint. Just a few drops go a long way.

Silicone oil can be applied in a number of ways to give you different effects:

• Mix directly into the paint and pouring medium for smaller clusters of cells
• drip onto the paint after it has been poured for larger cells
• drip onto the painting surface before the paint pour for resistive cell gaps.

Helmar Silicone Oil is non-toxic and non-sensitising, meaning it won’t irritate your skin. Also, it degrades into naturally occurring silica, water, and carbon dioxide and will not build up to toxic levels in the tissues of living organisms.

One of the easiest and most enjoyable pours is the flip cup pour technique. Different acrylic colours are mixed with a pouring medium, such as the Atelier Pouring Medium. The individual colours are poured into a single cup and flipped onto a painting surface. The cup is lifted, and the paint flows out in a puddle that you can further manipulate. Flip cup steps:

1. Mix the acrylic paint, pouring medium and a few drops of silicone oil into separate cups.
2. Pour each colour into a larger cup one on top of another.
3. Place the canvas upside down on top of the cup.
4. Flip the canvas and cup over.
5. Lift the cup and allow the paint to flow out into a puddle.
6. Tilt the canvas and allow the paint to flow to all the corners covering the entire surface.
7. Let the painting dry for 24 – 36 hours.
