Wrapped Animal Sculptures
Term: 4 Year: 2018
Inspired by Aboriginal Desert Weavers, students used fibres and colure threads to create their own Australian wrapped animal sculpture.
Students began by manipulating wire, scrunching paper, and securing – paper to wire – with masking tape. This formed the armature (framework). Next, students wrapped the armature with media such natural raffia and coloured wool. Decorative elements such as eyes and feathers were added last.
