Vertical Living

Year 4 students explored the concepts of transformation and place to develop a ‘vertically’ designed residential place as part of their Where we are in place and time Unit of Inquiry, Vertical Living.

The students’ inquiry, Vertical Living, into factors that shape the design of urban living over time and influence ‘vertical density’ led to thoughtful questions and reflections about liveability sustainability and infrastructure because of population growth. As both urban architect and vertical builder they experimented with drawing media and collage techniques to design and create a 3D mixed media art work. Throughout this process students considered the interior and exterior perspectives of artists including Howard Arkley, Roy Lichtenstein and Vincent Van Gogh.
