Upcycled Cans
Term: 4 Year: 2017
Year 3 and 4 students from Rolling Hills Primary School explored upcycling, single shape perspective, and Abstract art. They learnt about single point perspective, however they called it ‘single shape perspective’, the difference between hot and cool colours, as well as the impact that applying a variety of lines can have on art work. Then they discussed the term ‘upcycling’ and how aluminium cans can be turned into art rather than putting them into the recycling bin. Following this, students used a hot glue gun and attached the aluminium can to the centre of the backgrounds. The next step was exploring Pablo Picasso’s abstract paintings, in particular his subjects’ facial features, then applied Colour Slix to create an abstract Pablo Picasso inspired face on the can.
