Term: 2 Year: 2016

Year 5 and 6 students at Kalinda Primary School were tackling the whole school Change CBL topic from an environmental perspective.

At Level 4, students draw simple maps and plans of familiar environments observing basic mapping conventions. They identify the location of places on a simple map using an alphanumeric grid and describe direction using the four cardinal compass points. Using atlas maps and a globe, they locate and name the states and territories of Australia.

In Visual Arts, the students looked at and learned about simple forms of mapping and focused on the mapping aspect and the beauty of line, colour and shape within this. They created maps using foam sheets and embellished these with a range of media.
