The Life Drawing Connection

This two hour life drawing intensive will give participants some effective strategies to work more confidently with the human figure; looking at gesture, proportion, and basic anatomy.

Erikasees life drawing as fundamental in developing a practice that goes beyond pure representation, and believes thatat the core of life drawing is empathy.

About the Presenter
Erika Gofton has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and Post Graduate Diploma of Education. She has held solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland and has exhibited in numerous group and curated shows both within Australia and Internationally. Erika is also the founder and Director of The Art Room – An art class, workshop and mentoring facility in Footscray.
In 2012 Erika won the Toyota Community Spirit Travel Grant and undertook a residency in New York at Point B Worklodge. Whilst in New York she received a scholarship to complete the Drawing Marathon at The New York Studio School. She has been a finalist in many well respected prizes including the Collie Prize, Paul Guest prize for drawing, Adelaide Perry prize for Drawing, the EMSLA, Sunshine Coast Art Prize, Mosman Art Prize, R & M McGivern Prize, twice in the Redland Art Prize, three times in the City of Albany Art Prize, winning peoples choice in 2012. Erika is represented by Dickerson Gallery in Sydney.
