Linear Flower Still Life

The students looked at the still life work of both Vincent Van Gogh and Margaret Preston, their use of line, colour and basic composition.

Students then drew their own vase of flowers, keeping lines simple and well spaced.  Using squeeze bottles filled with a mixture of PVA and black paint, they drew over the lines.

After a skills exercise in using and blending dry pastels the students were asked to identify the direction of the light source that illuminated their drawing and pastel was added accordingly.
