Shrouded Figure

DESIGN BRIEF:

Your design brief is to design and create a representation of a shrouded figure such as the figure in Edvard Munch’s The Scream, a biblical figure shrouded in muslin, or even a modern Jedi warrior. Your sculpture will be made from a styrene foam base,armature wire, and muslin and will stand on a wooden base. The sculpture may be left white, dyed, or painted in one colour when complete.
 

WHAT TO DO:

  1. Paste this Design Brief in your Visual Diary and create a Heading “Unit 3”

Wire and muslin Sculpture:

  1. Paste in the Rubric and your research sheets.
  2. Experiment with at least 6 Designs. Divide your page into 6 sections and draw one design in each section.
  3. Select your most successful design, or combine successful features from several designs and create a final design drawing  of your  sculpture. This must be shaded and mounted on black paper.
  4. Construct your l sculpture, using the styrene base, wire, a styrene ball and strips of muslin dipped in a PVA solution. When complete and dry your sculpture will be ready for painting.
  5. This Unit will be complete when you have completed the design component, the sculpture, a Self-Evaluation Sheet and a Metacognition Sheet in your Visual Diary.

 

ASSESSMENT 

You will be graded as High, Medium or Repeat on each of the following requirements. 

  1. Design Brief, Rubric, Research and Heading in the Visual Art Diary
  2. Page of 6 trial designs in the Visual Art Diary
  3. Completed, final design drawing – mounted for display
  4. Completed  sculpture
  5. Completed Self Evaluation sheet in the Visual Diary
  6. Completed Meta cognition sheet in The Visual Diary.
