Think it-Find it-Create it
“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”

After my very short and simple instruction, all they knew was the size of the base board for the project and their group members. Students then made draft sketches in visual diary and had a discussion within groups in order to select the best idea. The next step was shopping; a trip to “Reverse Art Truck” in Ringwood.  I, as an art teacher, wanted to share with my students this fantastic place where I get all the fabulous recycled materials for them. Students were overwhelmed by the mountains of junk in front of them, but soon after they started discovering so many interesting material that can be used for their collage project which was completed in the term 2 2011.

I have given my students an opportunity to select their own material for the project. In doing that, students will expand their creativity further and be more responsible for outcomes. I am impressed by students’ very tasty collections and I was sure their project is going to be successful. However, the key of the success on this project was students’ strong team work and communication skills. I am so proud of my year 7 students who have shown incredibly respectable behaviour at all time.
