Portraits in Clay 

with Adrian Ward

Sculptor Adrian Ward will begin this session with an introduction to his work and introduce teachers to Life Drawing.
Learn drawing techniques with an emphasis on Adrian's approach of "Looking and Creating" as the one action, to life-drawing and life-sculpture.
Participants will then assemble armatures from prefabricated materials (i.e. a wood post and board, wire, foil, sticky tape, etc.)
You will be shown how to make your own modelling tools from icy-pole sticks, as well as a range of skills related to the art of sculpture.

Using these skills and techniques, participants will create and complete their own portrait sculpture to take home with them on the day.

Workshop participants under Adrian's instruction will learn comprehensive sculpting techniques from his many years of experience.
At the completion of the portrait modelling, Participants will also have the opportunity to learn antique reproduction painting techniques, for reproducing bronze and steel finishes.
