Howard Arkley Inspired Portraits

Term: 2 Year: 2013

The brief for the students was to study and discuss the work of Howard Arkley – The Tattooed Head.

We began the year by drawing our own portraits and then talked about the art elements of Line, Colour, Pattern and Shape. We explored line and pattern extensively and then gathered a huge collaborative collection of patterns on large sheets of paper.

We used our knowledge of Portraiture and the perspective of a face and combined this with a stylised use of line and pattern.
