Pop Art Paintings

This folio task requires students to extend their understanding of the art movement Pop Art in the context of art history. This unit looks at popular culture and consumerism as seen in Pop Art and juxtaposes the previous unit on sustainable art where students completed of a found objects/ recycled art folio. Students are required to draw on the conventions, and visual style and aesthetic qualities evident in Pop Art and plan, design, create and present a 2D artwork. The artwork must reinterpret Pop Art ideas in a contemporary manner, i.e: considering present day popular culture, social commentary and consumerism. Students approach this task with conceptual and aesthetic considerations as a focus.
