These were completed during the year our whole school studied the history of architecture.

It also happened to be the year of the wonderful Pompeii exhibition at the museum and a result of the class
presented by Zart in conjunction with this exhibition. It fitted in very well with architectural decoration.

The backgrounds were created using posterboard covered with modelling compound to create a fresco look and areas
where the fresco had fallen off due to age, were simulated by smearing coarse acrylic pumice on to the board –
this created the effect of the stone underneath was showing through.

After a detailed study of fresco work through the ages, particularly in Roman times, students painted their
pictures using Ocaldo water colour blocks.
