Planning a Primary Art Program
with Dee Zabel
*This workshop is a repeat*
An on-going dilemma in teaching the Visual Arts is how to plan and assess student learning. This workshop will look at planning a Visual Arts programme with an inquiry focus.
Participants will learn how to develop a programme to scaffold student learning and allow time for students to develop skills through inquiry connected to a topic in Visual Arts and another that links into the classroom inquiry.
Teachers will leave with a “tool box” of assessment ideas that can be used at any time. They will explore techniques that will help students engage in responding to artworks while increasing their Visual Arts vocabulary.
Teachers will be shown a way of documenting their work programmes to better align with the Victorian Curriculum and how to develop a rubric to consistently assess student artwork in preparation for reporting.
