Let Nature Be Your Medicine (2-Part Workshop)
Tania Di Berardino
Victorian Curriculum Levels:
2 – 10
Let Nature be your Medicine is an introduction to Wellness, the natural environment and art making.
Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings.
Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing.
By incorporating nature into your art projects we will foster creativity. Allowing students to work with materials they aren’t familiar with and explore found objects as part of the creative process encourages curiosity.
In this workshop we will explore a range of art making activities & ideas using the natural environment as both a source of materials as well as inspiration.
In the first part of this session, we will learn how to spark curiosity in your students; collecting, discovering natures shapes, textures and patterns. Together we will explore our findings through drawing and watercolour painting.
In the second part of this session, we will continue to explore the natural environment through the techniques of Gel Plate Printing and Collage with a focus on composition.
After this workshop, participants will leave feeling confident & inspired to engage their students with the Natural Environment, a range of Art making techniques, and most importantly – how to use Nature as your medicine!
