No Kiln, No Worries! A Live Onsite Workshop with Dee Zabel *This workshop is a repeat* Victorian Curriculum Levels: F – 6 These days, kilns can be hard to come by in schools, which might be seen as limiting for planning a modelling unit. This workshop will provide you with ways to still teach your students how to use clay without a kiln and have some amazing outcomes. Students of all ages will benefit from the experience of using clay as it provides an alternative creative outlet for those who struggle with other techniques, like painting and drawing. Just the chance to play and be ‘messy’ will have your students immediately engaged! During the pre-recorded video portion of this workshop you will learn basic clay modelling skills through an exploration of earthenware clay and investigate the properties of air dry clays such as Magiclay, Oz Clay, Classroom Air Dry and Plasticine. Apply these clay skills during a live Zoom session with Dee to explore how you can translate these techniques to available air dry clays.
