Ngununggula, meaning ‘belonging’ in the traditional language of the Gundungurra First Nations people, is the first regional art gallery in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
Led by a small but growing team and in partnership with the State Government of NSW, Wingecarribee Shire Council, the National Trust, and donors, we have established a state-of-the-art gallery that sustainably repurposes the Dairy and Veterinary Clinic at Retford Park, a property of the National Trust (NSW).

With a focus on visual arts, education, artistic practice, and cultural voice, our program represents the region and beyond through significant exhibitions, artist-led projects, live events, workshops, artist talks, collaboration and cooperation with local schools, and public programs.

Ngununggula provides a vibrant and engaging education program designed to nurture creativity and enjoyment of the arts for all ages and abilities.

Our diverse excursion opportunities are tailored to students and teachers’ individual needs featuring fun and engaging activities. Our workshop program aims to inspire curiosity and engage art enthusiasts of all ages.

In 2022 the gallery will launch The Milk Bar, a weekend art club for children where they can get creative and experiment with different materials. Children will develop their skills through activities including painting, collage, sculpting, printmaking, and drawing. Also launching next year is Ngununggula Nights a late-night program where the gallery comes alive through live music, workshops and performances.
