Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art in the Classroom with Kylie Neagle Day 1 Session Suitable for: ALL LEVELS About the Workshop Join Kylie Neagle on behalf of Art Gallery of South Australia Education as she delivers this workshop on how to incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art into the classroom in an appropriate and meaningful way. Teachers will learn best practice methods and practical tips on ways to integrate First Nations art, cultures and histories into daily learning environments based around the National Curriculum. This hands-on workshop will include an art making activity using AGSA’s ‘Artists as a Starting Point’ flowchart. About the Presenter Kylie Neagle is the Education Co-ordinator at the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA). Kylie has a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours), Bachelor of Education, a Graduate Diploma in Art History and Masters Museum and Curatorial Studies. During her post graduate studies, she researched the intersection between art and science with a focus on engaging adolescents with an art museum. Through this study Kylie undertook internships at the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of South Australia. After ten years teaching visual arts from years 4 – 12, Kylie was appointed as Education Co-ordinator at AGSA where she currently programs events and workshops for students and educators as well as developing resources to enhance audience engagement with works of art. These include AGSA’s Curiosity Cards, Art School in a Box and the award-winning teacher program and publication Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art in the Classroom.
