In 2008 at the Geelong Forum I was fortunate to meet some Rabari people from Kutch, India.

Judy Frater who accompanied the Indians to Australia, has lived and worked in Kutch for many years. She was
instrumental in setting up Kala Raksha, a design school which helps to preserve traditional textile
techniques and also encourages the exploration of new ways of working.

In response to the changing world the artisans of Kala Raksha tried telling their personal stories through
quilt making.  These narrative quilts were very successful.

Our students used some of these ideas to tell stories about aspects of their lives.
