Charcoal Lions

With many children having had a holiday excursion to see ‘The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe’ it was decided that a lion as a subject for a drawing activity would be appropriate.

• Using a variety of images from books as reference, the children used crayon to create firstly the nose and then build out the surrounding facial features.
• Charcoal was then introduced to add shade.
• The mane was added using a variety of marks with a mixture of charcoal and crayon.
