The Liberated Line
with Nick Hutcheson
Suitable for: ALL LEVELS
Session Times Available:
(AM) Morning session SOLD OUT!
(PM) Afternoon session SOLD OUT!
This 2-hour life drawing intensive will explore the act of looking – really looking, without preconception- and thus, letting the experience of the subject lead to new ways of drawing. Participants will consider how the act of drawing can help us to see more in the subject; to look afresh at what we think we know.
The intention is to focus on the possibilities drawing offers the experienced and less experienced artist. It is hoped that the session will refresh your approach to drawing the figure.
The only requirement for the course is that you are willing to risk making spectacular failures!
*Please Note: A nude model will be used in this workshop.
About the Presenter
Nicholas Hutcheson is an artist based in Melbourne, whose practice encompasses drawing and animation. Through repeated drawings of a subject, he develops his own system of codified signs and shapes, a kind of shorthand or idiom. His work explores the manifestation of time – on landscapes, structures and the human form. Since moving to Australia, Nicholas has exhibited in both solo and group shows nationally. He has been an artist in residence at Bundanon and Arts Fellow of the Australian Antarctic Division.
He has been drawing from the figure for as long as he can remember.
