This art unit linked with the students learning connected to Australian animals.

Students looked at images of koalas on iPads and listed the shapes they could see in the form of a koala:
Large circle
Half circle
Ovals etc.

Students crated their own koala sketch using grey lead pencil and then charcoal. Taking care to smudge toward the middle of the line (inwards). They drew a background environment using soft pastel and ‘hid’ their koalas in the tree by applying green paper collage leaves.
