Create your own Super Creatures from clay using Vipoo’s techniques including texturing, hand forming, pinching and clay scissoring techniques. Taking inspiration from your pets or animal you love, you will be demonstrate how to design and create Super Creatures using simple and basic tools. Bring your pet photo as a guide to add more personality to your creature.

This is a happy, fun and engaging class, suitable for all levels, and are particularly useful for teachers who wish to inspire their students with innovative ways of working with clay!

 

About the Presenter

Thai born, Melbourne-based artist, curator and arts activist Vipoo Srivilasa works predominantly in ceramics, and but also produces works on paper, mixed media and bronze sculptures. Srivilasa’s practice explores the similarities between the cultures of his native home, Thailand and his adoptive home, Australia as well as exploring cultural shifts and migration experiences. In addition to exhibiting his work, Srivilasa actively initiates and organises collaborative projects. Collaboration has been an important part of Srivilasa’s creative practice, he has been using clay to engage communities into his creating process in the past ten years. Srivilasa’s work has been exhibited in major art institutes around the world including Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; New Mexico Museum of Art, Santa Fe; Saatchi Gallery, London; L’Alcora Ceramics Museum, Spain; Henan Museum, China; National Art Gallery, Thailand; Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art;
Australia and National Art Gallery of Australia. He has received numerous awards, most notably are the 2016 National Sports Museum Basil Sellers Creative Arts Fellowship and Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award 2017.
Srivilasa’s work is held in public collections both national and international including The National Gallery of Australia; Clayarch Gimhae Museum, Korea; Henan Museum, China and London Craft Council, United Kingdom.
