After having used and explored the marks approach to drawing and painting I brought some bottlebrush and agapanthus from my garden into class. I put them in jars and placed them on the student tables.

The challenge to the students was could they transfer learned skills to observational painting using Form Cuts.

I was amazed at the results and the different ways students used this tool.

They were very proud of their work especially students who don’t always succeed in painting, this gave them a strategy to achieve a realistic impression.
