Craftivism:
Making Change Through Making

with Tal Fitzpatrick

Day 1 Session

Suitable for: ALL LEVELS

This workshop will revolve around a hands-on exploration of how basic craft skills such as embroidery and appliqué can be deployed to help young people reflect, discuss and express their core values and beliefs.

Built into this exploration will be a conversation about how craftivists engage with social media to connect with like-minded people and participate in movements dedicated to bringing about positive social change.

Drawing on the long history of craft being deployed as a strategy for activism and advocacy, Tal grounds this workshop in her research of craftivism’s potential to encourage active citizenship and community building.
