The Year 8 Art students at St. Columba’s College, Essendon were inspired by Picasso and Braques and their unconventional still life works to create collaged “Fractured Realities”.

The concept of Synthetic Cubism was explored so that the objects were altered just enough so that the viewer was still able to recognise the subject, but from an altered perspective.

The composition was then “fractured” so only sections of each object was shown.

A colour scheme was chosen and the students matched textured and patterned craft paper to complement the palette.
