Circ de Soleil Figurative Sculptures

Term: 2 Year: 2012

Inspired by the circus performers of Circ de Soleil, the Year 8 Sculpture students looked at producing colourful figurative sculptures of moving acrobats.

The students began with sketches of well-proportioned figures in motion. They then constructed a plastic and wire armature for their acrobat sculpture. This was then attached to a wooden base and rod and the figure covered with Modroc. The surface was then painted with brightly coloured patterns similar to a decorative circus performer’s costume. The learning focus of this task was on the design elements; colour and form and the principles balance, pattern and proportion.

The end results are stunning!
