Black & White Cats

MATERIALS:

Visual diaries, HB pencils, black Cover Paper, white gel pens, a selection of picture books.

METHOD:

This topic was part of a unit on line. To start the topic we read several picture books that featured cats for inspiration. We then looked at a variety of pictures and photographs of cats and talked about their features and movement. Those students who had a pet cat told stories about their cats and what personality traits they had.

The students then developed several drawings of cats in different poses in their Visual diaries. They chose their favourite cat and used it as inspiration for their final piece. These were drawn using white gel pens on black paper.
