Students in Year 5 at Creekside College created a cactus inspired by artworks in either two and three-dimensional forms. They were given the option to use two-dimensional materials such as watercolour, paint, pencil, or pastel.

If they chose to use three-dimensional materials they had the options of: papier mache, cardboard, and materials they could source from home, such as pebbles, tin cans and cardboard boxes. Before starting students brainstormed ideas, researched images and planned three potential ideas with annotations in their visual diaries. Mexican design and culture was researched and students explored was to include this style into their own work.
