ANZAC Weaving

Term: 2 Year: 2016

Students in Year 3 & 4 from Geelong South Primary School explored threads and textiles during a unit inspired by the “The Gallipoli Landing”. Students discussed photographs and artworks depicting the Anzacs landing at Gallipoli.

They sketched plans/ ideas for their own artworks in their visual diaries. Using knowledge of cool and warm colours, students wound woollen threads around cardboard to create a landscape background. They used masking tape to stick down the ends of threads on the back of the cardboard. Using special fabric scissors students cut and glued felt shapes to create silhouettes of this event.
