with Emma Hewett-Smiles
Suitable for: ALL LEVELS
Session Times Available:
(AM) Morning session SOLD OUT!
(PM) Afternoon session SOLD OUT!
Inspired by artists who use materials in unique and often unpredictable ways, this workshop will challenge participants to paint using coding and robotics.
Learn about computer generated art and how to make a Jackson Pollock inspired artwork and how to build an Art Bot to teach basic robotics using low budget materials.
See how to make a drip picture using house-hold materials, then develop a range of coding programs on iPad to control Sphero robots.
Look at how artist Frank Gehry, have used robots and machines to create works of art and how to use focus artworks by artists John Olsen, Ding Yang-Yong & Philip Galanter to look at spontaneous, gestural mark making in art.
Finally, we will write a series of coding instructions for Sphero robots that will bring coding to life in an explosion of vibrant, expressive colour and lines. The outcome will be an artwork replicating the drip and splash method of well-known American artist Jackson Pollock.
*Please Note: Participants will be required to bring their own fully charged and updated iPad to use on the day.
Further details regarding relevant Apps / pre-downloads required will be emailed to participants prior to the workshop.
