Cardboard Weaving Loom

In this video we explore weaving with wool. We will be using a cardboard weaving loom which has a cockatoo shape cut out of the middle. We create the warp (vertical wool thread) and then the weft (horizontal wool thread).

Using a variety of different coloured wool, we try to emphasise the features of the cockatoo as well as creating shape through colour. By manipulating the weft threads on the loom, we are able to emphasise and adjust certain shapes to create detail.

This is a great activity to teach students about wool weaving techniques.
