Pinch Pot Birds

Term: 1 Year: 2020

Pinch Pot Birds

Students started by creating a pinch pot in clay, added a beak and created two holes for the legs. Once the pinch pots were dry, they were fired in a kiln at a different school. Once the bisque firing was completed, students painted the outside of the pinch pots in bright colours using paint blocks and went over with a gloss varnish to protect the paint. Students had the option of painting the eyes of the bird in or to leave it blank. The following lesson, they used Supertac to add pom poms, joggle eyes and feathers. Lastly, pipe cleaners were inserted into the holes to create the legs.
