Term: 4 Year: 2019

Paper, coloured paper, shaving Cream, ink, feathers, marker were used in this Marbled Bird Collage by Year 2 students at St Finbar’s Primary School, Brighton East in Term 4 2019

Students in Grade 2 at St Finbar’s Primary School, East Brighton marbled their own paper using shaving cream and ink to create these Marbled Bird Collages. They then used a template to make the body and wings of a bird adding feathers students discovered how to curl paper for the tail. Artwork was completed with the basic printmaking skill of stamping using recycled objects and paint.

a piece of art made by sticking various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing.

Marbling is the process of floating paints on the surface of a thick cellulose solution (called “size”), somewhat like oil on water. The floating paints are swirled into patterns. Then you capture your design with fabric or paper. It is that easy and a great project for kids, small parties and classes!

The Zart Student Gallery is committed to the exhibition of works by a cross-section of students, varying age, year level and diversity of needs.

Success looks different for every child.
