Making a Pendant with Sculpey & Gold Leaf
Step One: Condition the Sculpey by kneading. Roll the main colour then press and roll in other colours.
Step Two: Flatten the design using a Rolling Pin. Use Metal Cutters or a Potter’s Knife to cut the design.
Step Three: Gently apply pieces of Metal Leaf with a soft brush.
Step Four: Add details using a Potter’s Needle or Polymer Clay Tools. Pierce holes using this tool as well.
Step Five: Pre-heat oven to the baking temperature on the package (Sculpey III: 130°C conventional or 110°C fan forced). Place your design on a tray, cover with baking paper and bake for 15 minutes per 6mm thickness. Do not exceed the baking temperature or time as Sculpey will become brittle.
Note: If you are making a bead with a hole, only measure from the outside of the bead to the hole. Baking should be completed by an adult.
Step Six: Once cool, add Tassels and Leather Thonging to complete your necklace.
