Robots

Consultants: Sue Innes
Cost: $100.00 Parking: Off-site

Here’s a creative concept that combines I.T and the arts and offers you the opportunity to add another skill to your arsenal in the struggle to keep specialist arts teachers relevant in your school. We’ll use pre-built LEGO robots, decorate (costume and characterise), program, add scenery and props to create a performance to music that’s a perfect integration of art, I.T., music, technology and thinking skills. Bring along a video camera and take this idea back to your school. Under the mentorship of Sue Inness, an experienced art and robotics teacher, you will train your robot to dance in time to music, plan the moves and the floor pattern using LEGO Mindstorms For Schools. By cleverly combining different movement sequences, you can develop an entertaining dance program and learn about robotic movement, mechanical systems and programming, costumes and staging a show in an entertaining and practical manner. By conceptualising the performance in keeping with the music’s theme and decorating the robots and the dance stage, accordingly, the arts are perfectly harmonized.
