“Assessment for the Victorian Essential Learning Standards requires a mix of summative assessment of learning to determine what the student has achieved, formative assessment to inform the next stage of learning that will occur, and ongoing assessment which focuses on teacher feedback alongside student reflection and self-assessment.”
Assessment of Visual Arts doesn’t need to be hard; we just need to be smarter. During this workshop we will look at assessment in terms of: Why, What, How, When and Where. We will discuss strategies and tools for assessment and the management of data collection. Using the Water Australian Art Pack we will create and assess art works with the development of line, shape and colour as a focus.

Heide was a home where creative people could come together to share ideas and produce creative works. The passionate artists who circled around Heide during the 1930s became known as the “Angry Penguins” and the works they produced changed art in Australia forever. In this session we will use the images presented in the Angry Penguins Art Pack to explore questioning techniques to inspire discussion and deeper thinking to develop an understanding of the works in response to the time, place and social issues. We will explore art making that relates to our own student’s time, place and the issues that concern them. The workshop will be presented in line with the Victorian Essential Learning Standard. We will consider documentation of the student’s planning, effective assessment tools and strategies that support student’s personal and interpersonal learning.

If you love to display your student’s work but need some fresh ideas this workshop is for you. We will explore display ideas that are quick, novel and complement the student’s works. We will address issues of limited wall space and find effective ways of exhibiting 3 D work using common furniture found in our schools. This workshop is full of brilliant display ideas for you to try back at your school. Your student’s work will look fabulous; the school’s spirit will be lifted as the joy of the student’s displayed work reaches its audience.
