Mask Making

Throughout the ages masks have been used for a multitude of purposes – for amusement, warfare, protection, disguise, religious purpose and funerary rites. Masks have a universal appeal and have given us insight into the cultures that created them.
In this workshop we will create a variety of masks that will inspire your students as well as give them the opportunity to explore and experiment with art making skills and techniques. We will explore working with paper to create a simple inexpensive yet visually appealing mask. We will work with pre-made papier mache masks, cutting away and adding to the mask before the decoration. The aim of the workshop is to guide you through the skills and techniques that will support the limitless possibilities of making Masks. The masks visual impact will look brilliant on the walls of your school or on the children who created them.
