The Australian Garden at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Cranbourne, celebrates the beauty and diversity of Australian flora, landscapes, art and architecture. Explore this innovative setting through creative visual art activities using a combination of natural and man made tools and media. From drawing with found objects to creating 2 and 3 dimensional sculptures, participants will gain inspiration from the gardens and other environmental artists for their artworks . Participants are asked to bring their own digital camera, wear sensible clothing and foot wear for working outdoors, sunscreen and sun hat.

Discover breathtakingly beautiful kimonos and accessories from the glory days of Japan. This extraordinary exhibition, highlighting the wealth and prosperity of the Edo and Meiji periods (1850-1900), is showing exclusively at the Immigration Museum. Direct from the Osaka Museum of History, the stunning collection celebrates the Immigration Museum’s 10th birthday and 30 years of the Melbourne-Osaka sister-city relationship. A tour of this amazing and inspiring exhibition Kimono: Osaka’s Golden Age will be the beginning of a morning of enlightenment and fun. Join Tania in her enthusiasm for textile art and discover what possibilities there are in simple techniques. Collage a decorative kimono or obi with a multitude of papers, overlaying, and pen work. Translate this collage to fabric using sun dyes and gutta on silk to create beautiful fabric designs.
