Introducing the new basketry with Wendy Golden
Wendy Golden is a basketry artist with over 20 years experience. Working from her studio in the Abbotsford Arts complex, she creates both vessels and large sculptural forms using materials that range from harvested plant materials to plastic and monofilament. She has been sharing her knowledge through workshops and community projects throughout her career. Wendy is particularly noted for her life size figures in rattan.

Traditional basketry and random Weave techniques will give you the freedom to take students work into new territory. During the day you will learn how to create and shape exciting sculptural work. While we will be working with cane and wire, the selection, harvesting and processing of plant materials from the environment will also be covered. Basketry opens the door to construction methods that enable large or small scale works. Individual or group projects can be achieved with ease.
